Here at Hope Primary our 2nd Team Project has led us out into the sunshine to compete in Commonwealth Games Events. Mrs Peace planned and led all our activities and even without Clyde to race against, she is still the fastest teacher in school!

Badminton with a Commonwealth theme

The West Mainland Badminton Festival involved Dounby, Firth and Stromness primary schools. everyone had a great time. Thank you to the Stromness Academy students who supported this event either in their leadership roles or as volunteers.

Badminton is a very popular sport in Orkney and as you can see we have some excellent facilities (this event was held at Dounby Community Sports Hall which is part of the school).

Dounby Community School

We are a school for children aged 3 to 12 on the West Mainland of Orkney. This is a rural location on the edge of a small village. The school is surrounded by farmland and farming is the most important local industry. There are currently 177 children attending school, so we are "one form entry".
To find out more about us have a look at:

Stromness Primary School Meets Clyde!

Today at Stromness Primary School we all had a chance to meet Clyde. He came and told as all about his journeys and explained what the Commonwealth Games was and all the sports that would be included in the games. We had great fun and are really looking forward to the Games.

Miss Kelday our P5 teacher even had a race with Clyde! What afternoon!
