Dounby Community School


Our Primary 7 and Primary 1 and 2 classes recently visited a local farm. The Primary 7 class visited as part of our careers learning, cattle farming for beef is an important industry on the West Mainland of Orkney, but also we wanted to give readers of this blog an idea of the way of life on our island. The farm is owned by parents of children who attend the school and is just a few miles up the road. The children had a tour of the farm, which included watching the birth of a calf, and they interviewed Mr and Mrs Sandison, the farmers.
