Badminton with a Commonwealth theme

The West Mainland Badminton Festival involved Dounby, Firth and Stromness primary schools. everyone had a great time. Thank you to the Stromness Academy students who supported this event either in their leadership roles or as volunteers.

Badminton is a very popular sport in Orkney and as you can see we have some excellent facilities (this event was held at Dounby Community Sports Hall which is part of the school).

Dounby Community School

We are a school for children aged 3 to 12 on the West Mainland of Orkney. This is a rural location on the edge of a small village. The school is surrounded by farmland and farming is the most important local industry. There are currently 177 children attending school, so we are "one form entry".

Education Department - Commonwealth Themed Buns



Yesterday staff in the Education Department enjoyed buns that were decorated with the flags of Orkney and our Support a Second Team partners Cayman Islands and Tanzania.
